Thousands of Material Recovery Facilities (MRFs) have been established across India, but many remain underutilised or non-functional due to poor waste collection and segregation, inadequate equipment, weak market linkages, and a lack of trained manpower. Without effective operations, valuable recyclable waste is lost to landfills or the environment, while investments in existing infrastructure fail to deliver their intended benefits.

The initiative focuses on making existing MRFs functional by strengthening waste collection and segregation systems, providing essential equipment, training workers, establishing reliable market linkages for recyclables, and improving day-to-day operations. Each intervention is tailored to local needs to ensure that facilities operate efficiently and recover more recyclable materials.

Your contribution can transform underutilised infrastructure into functioning waste recovery systems. It can help divert more waste from landfills, reduce environmental pollution, create dignified livelihoods for waste workers, and enable local governments to recover greater value from recyclables. By investing in existing facilities, your funding can unlock the potential of infrastructure already built and deliver measurable environmental and social impact.
