About this Project

Why it is needed

Every child deserves a safe, clean, and healthy school environment. However, inadequate drinking water, poorly maintained toilets, and a lack of handwashing and menstrual hygiene facilities can affect children's health, attendance, dignity, and learning outcomes.

These challenges can be particularly difficult for adolescent girls and children with disabilities, who need safe, private, and accessible facilities to participate equally in school life. Investing in School WASH is essential to creating an inclusive learning environment where every child can learn, grow, and thrive with dignity.

What gets done

Water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) facilities for this school, under the project “Integrated Water & Sanitation Project in Schools of Ballabgarh block, Faridabad District, Haryana”.

Integrated Water & Sanitation Project in Schools works to ensure access to safe drinking water, functional sanitation facilities, and improved hygiene practices in schools. Interventions include installing drinking water stations with treatment systems, child-friendly handwashing facilities, separate toilets for boys and girls, and accessible toilets for children with disabilities. Menstrual hygiene facilities, including dedicated change rooms and sanitary pad disposal systems, support adolescent girls in managing menstruation safely and with dignity. Beyond infrastructure, students, teachers, school staff, parents, and community members are engaged through interactive hygiene awareness activities, while trained Child Cabinet members help monitor facilities and promote good hygiene practices.

What your funding changes

Your contribution helps transform schools into healthier, safer, and more inclusive learning environments. It enables children to access safe drinking water, use clean and functional toilets, and practise proper handwashing.

Dedicated menstrual hygiene facilities help adolescent girls manage menstruation with confidence and dignity, while accessible infrastructure enables children with disabilities to use sanitation facilities more independently. Funding also supports hygiene education and student participation, helping children develop healthy habits that extend beyond the classroom into their homes and communities.
